Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
This policy explains what information Safra collects when you use the website at safra.cloud or the Safra mobile app (together, “Safra”), and how it is used. Safra is a free library of Torah videos. You don’t need an account to watch, and we don’t sell your information.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. Nothing is required to watch videos. If you contact us by email, we get your email address and whatever you write in your message.
- Accounts. Accounts are only for Safra’s administrators and contributors, not for viewers. If you have one, we store your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash).
- Server logs. Like any web server, ours automatically records technical details for each request, such as IP address, device and browser type, the page or video requested, and the time. We use these logs to deliver videos, keep the service secure and fix problems.
- View counts. We count how many times each video is played. These counts aren’t linked to your identity.
- Website analytics. The website uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used in aggregate (for example, which pages are visited and roughly where visitors are). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects data such as your IP address and device information. Google’s own privacy policy applies. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
The mobile app
The Safra app loads the catalog and streams videos from safra.cloud. It does not ask for an account, your contacts, location, photos, camera or microphone. Requests the app makes to our servers appear in the server logs described above.
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used in aggregate, for example which screens and videos are opened, how long sessions last, and the device model, operating system, app version and approximate location (country or city). Google assigns this data to a random app-instance identifier, not to your name or email. Google’s privacy policy applies. The app contains no advertising, and we don’t use analytics data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
How we use information
- To provide and stream the videos and keep Safra running.
- To protect Safra against abuse, attacks and fraud.
- To understand usage and improve the library and the experience.
- To reply when you contact us.
We don’t sell or rent personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run Safra: our hosting provider, which stores the site and videos, and Google, which provides analytics on the website and in the app. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of Safra or its users.
Retention
We keep server logs only as long as we need them for operations and security, and then delete them. Google Analytics data (website and app) is kept according to the retention settings of our Google Analytics account. Emails are kept as long as needed to deal with your request.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and Safra still works without them. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email us at the address below.
Children
Safra has no accounts for viewers and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic to Safra is encrypted with HTTPS, and access to our systems is restricted. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top.
